Core Values + Their Shadow Sides

A 90-Minute Workshop
September 22, 2026 — The Fall Equinox
5:00 – 6:30pm PT
Virtual

Most people think they know their values.

You can name words — integrity, family, growth — but when you look at how you actually make decisions, what you tolerate, what you avoid, and what keeps you up at night, something different is running the show.

Your core values are not the words that sound true. They are the drivers underneath your choices. They explain why you said yes when you meant no, why a certain kind of criticism lands so hard, or why some situations fill your cup and others hollow you out and drain you.

Most of us have never actually identified them, or have done it once and never looked at it again.

And almost none of us have looked at them through their shadow sides.

This workshop is an invitation to do both.

What we will do together

Find your actual core values
Using the four-column sorting method I use with every coaching client — This Drives Me, I Wish This Drove Me, This Describes Me, This Doesn't Resonate — you will move intuitively through a full values word list and land on your top three. The exercise is designed to surface what is actually driving you, not what you wish were driving you. Those are often very different lists.

Build context around them
A value without context is just a word. We will go deeper into each of your top three — what they look like when you are living in alignment with them, what they feel like in your body, and how they show up in your relationships, your work, and your decisions.

Map the shadow side
Every value has a shadow: the place where a strength becomes a pattern that no longer serves you. The person who values harmony can go quiet in rooms where they need to speak. The person who values well-being can tip into control over their body. The person who values curiosity can use it to stay in their head and never actually change anything. The person who values independence can end up profoundly alone.

This is the part of values work most people skip. We are not skipping it.

Integrate what you find
Awareness without integration is just more information. We will close with a simple practice for bringing your values and their shadows into your everyday life — not as a performance of identity, but as a return point to who you already are when you are aligned.

Before we gather

I will send you the values word list in advance for you to sort. The work we do together in 90 minutes will go deeper if you arrive having already spent time with it. Come with your top three values and whatever feels alive or unresolved in them.

This workshop is offered on a pay what you can basis.

Access to this kind of work should depend on what you can afford right now.

Free — come as you are, no questions asked
Pay in Full — $35 — covers your seat and supports my facilitation
Sponsor Someone — $50 — your seat plus one for someone who needs it in this season

All three options give you full access to the same 90 minutes.

I look forward to seeing you there!
